  • Dancing with Time by John Fish

acrylic on paper 14”x17” / Dancing in lighted pools of Jello-textured neon. “That’s the way to do it,” an old stranger called to the young man who, being suddenly aware of what he was doing, stopped, looked over his shoulder and glanced down at the ragged multi-colored sheet that was pulled tightly around his shoulders. He leaned back and peered up at the sun. Smoke rose from the side of a brick building and the odor or ginger floated through the air. The source of both puzzled him, as he remembered distinctly thinking he was the only person in the world just a few moments before. The old man smiled a toothless smear of flabby lips and bowed down to the dancing youth, who smiled back, jiggled aimlessly for a few seconds on thin, scratched legs and then sat down on a patch of grass in from of a building that had been painted by clowns. The young man pulled back the corner of his gown of rainbow hues and let out his heart, which had been beating all along, but in being freed, started to do a dance all of its own, though it had no legs. It also sang, which surprised the young man as he had always thought he was mute.

  • Fear... by Ritchard Rodriguez

  • Burned Offerings by Richard Nixon

Let’s see . . . technical shit: 14-45 lens, Olympus E-510, IS on, ISO 200, Adobe RGB. Manual focus, manual exposure, 1/125 shutter speed, F 6.3 and the lens at 45mm. I’m very happy with this new camera; I initially saw it as an upgrade of the E500, which it definitely is not. The NMOS sensor gives a very beautiful tonal gradation (I don’t know what else to call it) and seems to handle highlights with less clipping than the old CMOS sensor. The IS is wonderful . . . in some cases, I’ve gotten sharp shots 3 stops slower than what I could have gotten without it. Anyway, after the Olympus commercial I suppose I should get back to the picture. The picture just happened. An “F8 and be there” thing. My girlfriend and I were driving down the road on our anniversary outing and the building was there. Now it’s here. I’m fairly happy with it. It’s straight from the camera without any manipulation, which is extremely rare for me.

  • LETTERS FROM CHERNOBYL by Maria Mann

Several years ago I had the honor of meeting a man who was the first photojournalist on the scene of the Chernobyl disaster. We collaborated on a photo project of his images, negatives that he kept in suitcases all those years, for the twentieth anniversary of the event. He is larger than life, a man who has survived, who still takes photographs and who never ceases to inspire me.

  • Mantags Dilemma. by Philip W Messenger

What is Mantags Dilemma..? it is a reference to Fahrenheit 451/ that critical moment when Montag solidifies the reason for his growing dysfunction in a hyper bureaucratic regime designed to eliminate disorder in society by irradiating all articles of free thought and critical thinking inspired through reading.,and Government controlled media an old lady is burned along with her library because there is no procedure to account for such an occurrence. granted its been a great while sense I’v read the book(Ray Bradbury) but there is an undertone of an intension to initiate a murders by governing bodies, for removed from the situation. in-turn this piece i s intended to be part of a bigger piece that indicates the evaluative logic around controlled environment to remedy humankind’s behavior and the dilemma of losing That witch makes life worth living. in-short the extremes lead to intolerance and discord.

  • Green Weave by Patricia L. Ballard

I’ve been experimenting with using imaginary numbers in my fractals. They give them a slightly twisted look that I find Matisse-like.

  • Page 1 by Jeffrey Hamilton

In response to a challenge from that excellent artist NoFrills, herewith the first drawing in my new book. Been wanting to make an artist book for yonks. Haven’t done any of the actual bookbinding etc (another lifetime?) but it is a nice book, hard cover, but with lines, which is kindof interesting and challenging to draw on. They’re pretty subtle lines. so it’s a new drawing every 2x days (at least) except, I have a headstart Glen, as you can see by the date. Didn’t realise how far I’d got into it!
