This section is your chance to brag about all the wonderful places we can find your art in person. Let us know about any shows, galleries, craft markets, restaurants, or any other place that we can go and see your work in the flesh.

Also this is the place to post interesting exhibits, conferences and/or workshops that would be of interest to the other group members.

Just my opinion but …

I’m not convinced the forum is the right place for this sort of thing. If you (or I) want to brag, we want to brag to the wider audience, so posting this information in a journal entry that is then linked added to the group journal seem to me to make much more sense.

The forums to me would seem to be better for ongoing, open, discussions between members, rather than for announcements of events that are of interest for a limited time, and aren’t really items for a discussion.

If you want to discuss mechanics of an exhibition, or selection of pieces, that is of course a different matter, and much better done through the forum.

I think both can be an effective way of promoting a show. A journal entry would definitely garner more exposure but it can’t hurt putting it in a forum too. I don’t necessarily see it as an either/or proposition. If I had to choose only one though, I would agree that journals would be best.

There are many features coming for groups over the next little while so there may be even better venues for this.

Thoughts from anyone else?

I agree that exposure is what we need in these situations, and to exploit that to the fullest, a wide audience is preferred. As David says, both can be achieved. Journal/general forum entries for exposure, and this forum as an alert to members here of similar style, work, and ambition. Links are easy enough to do :)
