Her Supple Solitude (Acrylics)- by Robert Dye
This work was produced primarily with acrylics on a canvas sheet. I drew in the form with graphite, then painted some areas with white (which blended with the graphite to create a grey tone). I outlined the refined form with india ink, and then painted the entire work with layers of acrylics. I used a soft white pastel for highlighting after most of the painting was done, and blended it with my finger. The dimensions of the canvas are 20in. X 16in. It was produced in 2008.

The Queen of the Nile (Mixed Media Acrylics)- by Robert Dye
This is a mixed media painting that was produced on a piece of white heavyweight paper. I began this work a few years ago, by cutting a black monoprint on newsprint into sections and gluing them to the white paper. A figure formed from the positive and negative shapes of the monoprint. I then began drawing a few defining lines of subordinate subjects with ink. I then glued interesting gold and iridescent textile pieces to the work, which added texture, color, and form. After this I painted (with acrylics) the remaining spatial areas, also using a selective amount of gold and bronze metallic acrylic paints. I then refined some areas with ink again, (like the woven planters) and also glued real seashells to the work as accents (for her jewelry). Overall the piece conveys a cubistic feel, with interesting simplified forms, and a variety of patterns and textures which also help to express the Egyptian theme. I enjoyed relating a timeless subject that also contains elements of certain spiritual and philosophical beliefs. The original dimensions of the piece are 23in. X 18in. The initial monoprint and drawing work was established in 2005, and the remaining painted work was completed in 2008.

Blood and Bone #2 (Mixed Material Assemblage)- by Robert Dye
This is an abstract work that was comprised of fabrics, gesso, spray paints, and some acrylic paints and india ink. I started with the organization of various shapes and colors of textured fabrics. Some pieces were sewn together and other areas were merely pinned and glued (together or overlapped). Then I painted geometric areas with spray paints and gesso. After the gesso dried, I also painted in shapes with similar colors of acrylics, adding to the overall texture and echoing spaces for greater definition. Ink was also used, which absorbed into the fabrics, bringing the inherent textile texture to the surface. The original dimensions of the work are 24in. X 22in. It was initiated a few years ago and completed in 2008.

2) The best Cubism incorporates one or more of the following: shading, lighting, volume, foreshortening or perspective
3) Only add work which fits our definition
