Phillip Toledano’s Photography Series – Days With My Father
I believe these images and words are some of the most compelling and moving I’ve ever seen.
I am a photographer and not a writer, I wish I could better express how this series affected me.

Rebecca thank you so much for sharing this, I too am without words at the moment. Beautiful, poignant, a collection that will touch so many.

I am so glad you were moved by it, Mundy. It does indeed leave one rather speechless.

Rebecca it really is gripping, the story is clear to me and yet there are several different ways it could be interpreted within each image. It is just, well in a word moving.

Yes..I was so drawn into the story and images, when I reached the one that showed only the wheelchair and happy birthday balloon, my heart sank thinking I would be told that his father was no more. And in the end…there was no “end”, although I was left with the feeling of the inevitable end. I hope that made sense!

Brought tears to my eyes.
I have been through this with my own father.

Yes..my mother is going through this with her father now, these stages are such a difficult part of our lives that nothing in our prior experience really can prepare us for.
To me, this is the real reason for art. To draw us in and make us feel deeply. I posted this initially in the General Discussion forums, but quickly realized that with all the hullabaloo happening there the message would likely be drowned. I’m glad I chose to post it in my journal as well.

very heart felt by me… I am 68 years old and have been through this with my parents, husband’s parents and my grandmother… I am the eldest person in my family now, so if I live long enough I may be in the same shape as this gentlemen and I know I will have 5 loving sons to help me.
Thanks for sharing this with us… Most people do not this side of life…

Thank you Rebecca for sharing this with us. They are as you say some of the most beautiful, evocative and moving images that I have seen. Phillip has captured those moments that most can relate to if you have ever cared for a frail and elderly parent or grandparent. Very sad but at the same time uplifting.
