Wild! The expression is kind of both apathetic and hopeful- the eyes are still looking ‘yonder’ but the mouth is kind of disgusted. Great job of portraying mixed emotions!! And I love the colors.

THANK YOU Niksi! You got it in 1!

I think this painting is trying to teach me a lesson.
I sold it on Ebay for some pathetic price… like $79 dollars (I’ll never do it again so to the 80 people that got a bargain you better get it insured0…
the lesson is, stop trying so hard! I did this in maybe an hour, an hour and a half… spontaneously without expectation, yet it’s the artwork with the most accolade and appreciation. Are you getting my point?
Max Gatrell, 6 months ago
Absolutely, some of my best work has been penned in 15 minutes.
When it flows it flows, true art manifests itself into creation without respite ;)

Carmen Cilliers in reply to Max Gatrell’s comment, 6 months ago
my best ‘penwork’ flows when i am in bed… and i know i should grab my diary but am too lazy and think i will remember it in the morning. most of the time it’s too faint to have any merit. the other day though, i remembered an awful dream. i was in a pharmacy… and told the man i needed something for the red spots on my feet. he gave me some ointment and then a needle with a tiny scoop on the end. He told me it was on ‘special’ and I would get it for $6 dollars that day instead of $12. I said it wouldn’t work, and he said without asking it might and then plunged the needle into my foot. I thought in the dream, this won’t work, he’s no where near the red spot. I thought it would hurt. Instead I felt a small pressure and as he pulled the needle out of my foot a vein came out… like a prawn vein, but a meter long. My initial reaction was embarressment, and I could see his disgust. I grabbed the needle with the vein from him and tossed it aside. The embarressment was overwhelmed by relief that this thing was no longer in me.
I shared my dream with a spiritual healer a few days later. My concern was that it was a warning that I was going to have a stroke and my veins were dying. The healer felt that it was not this at all, rather that I have been doing a lot of work on healing old wounds and clearing blockages… this dream revealing evident symbols of the process.
I guess, in relation to this painting, is that, with healing, purging, spontaneaty and an open mind I will hopefully pen and paint work of a calibre that is far greater in authenticity than I have ever known.
Max, I am looking forwars to going through more of your work. (I will delete this entry pretty soon so as not to give the whole world the impression that I am crazy : )... because infact, I am not!)
Max Gatrell, 6 months ago
Thankyou so much for taking the time to share that with me.I’m not Joseph, but I believe your dream was indicative of a hidden pleasure, you long to embrace, although if you declared this thing that you enoyed you fear reproach from those around you. Pleasue and Pain are two sides of the same coin ;)
You sound like me, I lie in bed and think about what i’m writing next, however I have gotten into the habit of reaching for my notepad and penning down my musings before they’re forever lost in the mist of dreams.
I look forward to you reading my work, i’m quite pleased with some of it.

—-—-—-Are you a guru?! I came to a realization today/yesterday after some “Focusing” exercises that I am not living authentically – when I am my true self people find me to overbearing and strong… so for the last 25 or so years I have been mastering the art of tempering myself. now I am so well tempered i feel i am wading around in a black tunnel. yea, maybe i should bub mail you – but how the hell do you discuss this in email – with a stranger?
Max Gatrell, 6 months ago
I’m no Guru (lol) far from it, I just spend more time than I should with my nose in metaphysical literature. I just know that dreams are as relevant as our waking lives, often their too easily dismissed as mental by-priducts, when they should be considered in the Prophetic sense ;)
M
Carmen Cilliers in reply to Max Gatrell’s comment, 6 months ago
as long as you aren’t reading those lame dream books that you get on the shelves of news agents in the ‘psychology’ section… like snake = transformation… yea right, especially if it’s a mortal paralysing phobia… you know what i mean. the symbol in the dream is personal and applies to the person having the dream.
anyway… i am tired, time for bed. i had a long day today… one more day with my shamanic guru lecturer. don’t really know what to call him. you can google him – Rafael Loche (Dr). Glad to have made a new friend : )
Max Gatrell, 6 months ago
I try to avoid Those kind of books, I tend to stick to much older work, cause back in the day they seemed to have a better grasp on things. Have a great session with your Guru, i’d love to hear what his teaching’s entail.
Good Night New Friend ;)
M
Carmen Cilliers in reply to Max Gatrell’s comment, 6 months ago
Lol – he’s not really my Guru – I wish, but I am too basic to even search for one… but he’s a pretty interesting guy – i think you’d find the 10min on google worth it. I read the tanks… I have to say, I don’t know if I am in agreement with all the comments about it being dark twisted and sinister although some of it does go beyond me and I will take the time to look deeeper into some of the symbols later this week. I can say, I read some of your other works and am convinced that no native of France can write English like this (because most English can’t either). You are very talented, obviously very intense and very multi-faceted and it is unfortunate that we find these people on the internet and they always turn out to be on the other side of the world when it would be so much more convenient to have them near by so one can really get down to the nuts and bolts of it all and literally water the seeds of friendship. Oh well! Hope your day is one of wisdom, peace and utter shallowness – c’mon – just for the hell of it!
Max Gatrell, 6 months ago
Mon Anglais si daccord pour la Frencais, non?
Only joking, i’m from London really, i’ve just been staying here till my book’s published,
and then who knows where i’ll end up next ;)
That Tanks piece is quite twisted in a sense, but at the same time I feel there’s an alement of playfullness entwined within, guess it could mean different things to different people.
You’re so right it is shame that the best people always seem to be so far away,
i’d love to be able to personally interact with those of a like-mind.
