Awww, now THAT is the money shot, i love it. The yellow works so well in that sea of monotone, and the poor li’l kid’s stance just perfectly expresses that mix of slight anxiety and resignation that comes from rejection. Btw., what game is the big kid playing? Bury the landmine? Crikey helen, you are gonna have the BEST family album.

The big kid was playing a game where they place a bean bag on a wood lever and then launch it at the goal by jumping on the lever. Poor little Malcolm wanted to play so badly! All the big kids in the park kept saying, “This game is not for babies. Go away baby.” I felt so awful for Malcolm. His first taste of rejection, it hurt him.

Helen, this shot is so representative of the feeling of rejection experienced by all “little kids”-superb work!

Gorgeous photo. Poor darling. Rejection hurts no matter what your age. But it is heartbreaking when it is you child. You want to protect them forever, even though you know you can’t.

This one was hard to take. Little Malcolm, so sweet and so loving. I hurt for him that day. I posted this image for sale because each of us has suffered rejection at some point in our lives. I think everyone can relate to how my little buddy felt that day. :-(

Brilliant shot and treatment. The stance and posture of the child in the foreground are fantastic – it communicates isolation and longing.
Deborah Parkin, 9 months ago
this is such a great image – breaks your heart really – he looks so lost standing there – love the way you have used selective colouring as it really highlights how lonely he seems.

Beautiful image…poor little Malcom…probably just wants to have fun and doesn’t understand why he can’t be included. The funny thing is, is that usually “babies” just want to be like the very people that are rejecting them!

I know what you mean Helen. I remember my little brother crying his eye’s out when I went out to play. I told my mum I’d look after him but she said no & she was right. We have to protect them too. Fabulous shot.

Poignant….yes sad when the big kids won’t let the little ones play….(and when adults don’t listen to the voices of children of all ages(?)).....without a title you know this vignette juxtaposes the age old question of question…...caught in the moment one little thread to make the tapestry of a lifetimes journey a memory…..”Can I Play Too?” [0^0]
