Not coming out!!

Cyril won’t come out and play when it’s cold. He’d rather stay in bed….don’t blame him.

He’s got BIG teeth….strong enough to crack a nut…I’m the only one that can do absolutly anything to him….except get him in a carry box!!! The kids go in with him and have a fuss….But all the rough and tumbles I have to give him….he loves being handled…but certain times of the year (breeding season) he gets a bit nippy. But you have to take the rough with the smooth.!!!

Also that bit of fleece behind his head….he uses that as a curtain and puts it over the hole….very clever squirrel!!!

No I haven’t read that…..but that is amazing you say that…..when we are out with the dog we collect nuts, berries and acorns for him. We pass them to him and he examines them and discards some and eats or burys others, even ones from the same tree….But he avoides ones with grubs in I’ve noticed….I didn’t know they had grubs in until they started creeping out of the jar I stored his acorns in. Where can I read that???

i actually saw it on an old video….let me do some hunting…(my son remembers the names to all those!) but it was saying how they know which grow quick/takes awile….how to store them if they ARE quick or slow growers…....all that kind of interesting info. let me find out for u….definately interesting! (and ewww…i’m not big on maggoty things…lol)

That would be great thanks….No i don’t do maggots either!!! But you would believe the problems I have trying to provide a balanced diet for a squirrel….he will even peel a grape as he is fussy about what he eats!!!
