Say "Holidays"
My mother has this lovely spirit about her which I have always admired. As children we grew up with my grandfather’s video camera pointed at us and my mother’s point and shoot. At this Christmas just passed, I was taking family photos and became very aware that all the grandchildren were happy to have their photo taken and even went out of their way to pose and give me their attention for a moment. You could see them ‘sense’ when a candid was coming and stop chewing their food. I found it entertaining. But I’m on a tangent! I spent a weekend in McCrae taking photos, eating nice things and going for drives and bike rides. On the last day we headed up one of the local piers and there were quite a few tourists taking advantage of the long weekend. Watching others having their holiday portraits taken I was reminded of how my mother would aim her camera at us and in an attempt to make us smile, yell out in her lovely sing song way “Say Holidays”

lovely water Jo and the write-up’s really sweet! That water looks good enough to walk into and soak in – bet it’s boiling in melbourne! Was 2 degrees this morning when I was driving to work in cambridge!
love these melbourne / victoria beach scenes – makes me think of my birth town a lot!

Nice text and picture. I feel related to this. Wish I was there instead of in cold and wet Belgium. But it’s nice to see something beautiful.

Ahh.. “Holidays” indeed! This is one of my favourite beaches, always has been and always will methinks. We used to have a house opposite the beach. I am still torn when i think of that, smiles for the good times, sadness that it is no longer ours. Whenever I am in Melbourne, I make my way back there.. for at least a walk on the beach and fish n chips..

I really loved and enjoyed reading what you shared… thank you.
I used to stay in a tiny shack in Mcrae with a couple of buddies when I was 19… beaching during day and drinking at night. The shack was really tiny… only fit a few bunk beds… but god we had fun!!! Thanks for bringing those memories back :)
Happy New Year.
