Freshly bailed paddock under a brooding sky. I was driving out to the ‘Tree Graveyard’ for a sunset shoot when I noticed this paddock scene and just had to stop and take advantage of the amazing light.

Strathfieldsaye, Victoria, Australia

  3. Exposure: 1/160 sec, f5.6, ISO 100
  4. Filters: Hoya UV, Cokin 121S Grad ND8
  5. HDR: AEB (-1, 0, +1)
  6. Tone Mapping: Photomatix Pro
  7. Processing: Adobe Photoshop CS

    The strength of the black and white tones really make this a powerful shot. The lighting from the red is low and rich which causes that great shadow in the centre of the shot and the depth of the bales show off the distance and size of the main tree in the field. A very impressive sky also tops it all off nicely.
