IN THE WOODS, where few tread
Is where two lovers met
Afraid of family and of ties
They met together, amid many lies
They kissed as many lovers do
IN THE WOODS so far from view
Too young for anyone to approve
They felt they had nothing to lose
Without each other they could not live
Together they were able to forgive
Forgive the lies they had been told
By those around them growing old
Alone they would just exist
Never feeling the touch or each other’s kiss
Forbidden from the day they were born
Their lives were bitter and were torn
Family feuds led them astray
They met each other every day
If anyone saw them fire would erupt
Family anger would corrupt
How foolish some families can be
They were in love, couldn’t they see
A love like theirs would go on
And for them would never be gone
Love is something difficult to capture
Together they lived in rapture
Once old enough they ran away
Now they are together every day
Sharing a love that was meant to be
And living their lives in ectasy
IN THE WOODS one day they’ll go
To the trees and grass they’ll say hello
Remembering how their love began
And how they followed their own plan
IN THE WOODS they will once again kiss
In the early morning mist
IN THE WOODS
