  • Villandry Castle - Loire Valley - France by Alison Cornford-Matheson

I was thrilled to be able to visit Villandry Castle in the Loire Valley of France. We had planned several trips to the Loire in the past that we had to cancel for one reason or another so it was great to be able to visit a couple of the chateau. Villandry was finished in 1536 and was one of the last chateaus built during the Renaissance. It is famous for its enormous formal gardens. Gear: Nikon D80, AF-S NIKKOR 18-200mm 1:3.5-5.6 G ED

About This Group

Daguerre captured that first photographic image on paper, France has led the art of photography.

Baudelaire may not have liked it saying “if photography is allowed to supplement art in some of its functions, it will soon have supplanted or corrupted it altogether, thanks to the stupidity of the multitude which is its natural ally,” but what did he know?

Kertész, Atget, Bresson and now you have proved him wrong.
