Sorting your art in your Portfolio.... Did you know that......?
by GerryMacI like to move my images around in my portfolio. I sometimes will bring some of my work that I have posted months ago to the front page. ...
I like to move my images around in my portfolio. I sometimes will bring some of my work that I have posted months ago to the front page. This is easy to do by using the ‘Art’ tab which will display all your images in a list. One the far right hand side of the page are 4 blue arrow controls: 1st Arrow: when clicked will move that image to the very top of the list on the first page. 2nd Arrow: when clicked will move that image up one position at a time towards the top of the list. 3rd Arrow: when clicked will move that image down one position at a time towards the bottom of the list. 4th Arrow: when clicked will move that image to the very bottom of the list on the last page. Now heres the deal… when using the 2nd and 3rd arrow it is quit a slow process as the page refreshes each time to show you the new position of the image and you then have to move the cursor up or down to the new position of the arrow and click again….. / This is what I have discovered, if you carefully keep the cursor on the arrow and very quickly click the left mouse button, when you stop and the page refreshes it will have moved the image the number of times you have clicked the mouse…...

Free RB Portfolio Review and/or Online Photo Workshop

I love looking at all the art on RedBubble and am thrilled to see new people discover (re-discover) their passion for expressing themselves artistically. However, we all need help every now and then to help tuck in our edges and get us straightened out down our artistic journey. To pay back a bit to the community that has helped me gain confidence about who I am and what I do, I would love to offer up my services to provide you with a Portfolio Reivew and give you a few pointers, critiques and suggestions. I am also offering a few one-on-one (or even group) Online Workshops where we will discuss various photographic techniques both ‘in the camera’ and in post processing. These sessions will include lessons on various technique and review of weekly homework assignments (don’t worry, they’ll be fun!) Who Should Sign Up? / This offer is open to anyone on RB who would like a safe environment in which to have their work critiqued and to learn a few new tricks to help you on your artistic journey. The workshops themselves would probably be more beneficial to those who have just started out or those closer to the beginning of their artistic endeavors. The portfolio review is open to anyone but since I’m a photographer, it would be best if you were one too! :) What do I need to bring? / An open mind and a desire to learn in a fun, an un-intimidating atmosphere. Since you are already on RB we know you have internet access which is a must. Having access to Skype and/or iChat is also a bonus but not an absolute requirement. What Will I Expect To Gain Out of It? / You can probably tell through my gallery that I have a certain style. However this isn’t about “how to shoot like Dave” (unless of course you really want to go down that route). Instead, I will work with workshop participants to help you ‘see’ and find your own vision and style and how to translate that into works of art. / Portfolio review particpants will gain get a better understanding of how buyers and galleries view your work and how to make things more cohesive. Plus it is a non-threatening way to have unbiased feedback on your work. Why The Heck Would I Want to Learn From You! / I have never claimed, nor ever will, to be the highest authority on photography and art. There are many, many, many more talented and inspirational artists out there. However, I have learned quite a bit about it through my artistic journey and I am driven to help others discover the thrill of using photography as a from of art and expression. I also have a background and passion for coaching and instructing and enjoy bringing those worlds together. Are There Any Limits To The Number of Participants I Will Take? / To be honest, I don’t even know if anyone is even interested in this. ;-) However, to be fair to all that participate, I would like to keep things to a manageable number. The focus is on helping each student individually (unless a small group of you want to do it together…possibly as a separate RB Group?) and you deserve that I not be stretched too thin. As to what exactly that means, I image that it would be best to keep it to 2 individual one-on-one participants at any one time. Again though, if there is a small group (say up to 6 members) that would like to do it together as one group, I could definitely do that instead. Sometimes learning in a group can be beneficial. / Portfolio reviews are restricted to a maximum of 4 portfolios at any given time. How Long Do the Workshops and Portfolio Reviews Last? / Portfolio reviews will generally last about 1-2 weeks. This will give me a chance to spend some quality time going through your work and documenting my thoughts. It also allows us to have a bit of time communicating between each other. / Workshops participants should expect it to last about 4-6 weeks. That allows us to set up some time to get together on a weekly basis to go through that week’s discussions and assignments. What Does It Cost? / Nada. Zilch. Zippo. I have done these things in the past on a local level for a small fee but I’m just looking to give back to the community. Of course, we all have to earn a living so this offer won’t be around for ever (or else my wife and dog would starve to death). Where Are You? Do I Have To Be In The Same City/Time Zone/Continent? / I live on the East Coast of Canada in a place called Halifax, Nova Scotia. However, you probably don’t want to be here as our winter is fast approaching! Instead, this can all be done from the comfort of your home. The internet is a wonderful thing and we will work with our mutual schedules to make things work. How Do I Sign Up? / Please contact me via email at workshops@dlphotography.ca. Bubblemail is not the greatest way to have a conversation. Please make sure to include whether you would like to participate in a workshop or just a portfolio review. Also include a brief introduction about your artistic self and what you would like to accomplish in our sessions. Since space is limited and to be fare to everyone, please only apply if you are serious about this and can devote the time necessary. Also, all communications are done in English (sorry, my Spanish and French are not up to par). Any other questions? Just email me or write them below. Cheers, / Dave P.S. I would love to have any other RB artists give a ‘guest lecture’ during my workshops. If this is something that would interest you, please email me. I promise to give you 100% of my fees received! ;-) UPDATE: You guys are awesome! The response has been wonderful. Since I want to stick fairly closely to my numbers, I’m creating a waiting list for portfolio reviews. Since these reviews will last a week or so, I should be able to get through the list rather quickly. Send me an email if you would like to be put on the waiting list. UPDATE 2: The workshops are now full! Since these are a little more extensive and occur over a number of weeks, I am not going to create a waiting list for these. However, I will repost this when I’m done with the current participants and can take on more. You can still sign up for the Portfolio Review
