Sailboat cruising in the light of the silvery moon.

On 21 September 2007, the QE2 visited Liverpool for the last time to mark the official opening of that city’s cruise liner terminal. She was launched at 20 September 1967. She is scheduled to be berthed permanently at the Palm Jumeirah development in Dubai in 2008 to be refurbished and become a floating hotel by 2009.

This was taken in the summer of 2007 at a favorite spot of mine at Jones Valley on Shasta Lake, CA, about 16 miles north east of Redding, CA….It was a perfect day and the light was very cooperative with me and my camera…..this has become one of my favorite places to just kick back and relax….and the fishing is not bad, an added plus. Common species most often caught here are Bass, Crappie, and Trout. It is also well known for camping, hiking and boating. / __ / All The Materials Contained May Not Be Reproduced, Copied, Edited, Published, Transmitted Or Uploaded In Any Way Without My Permission. An aptly named sunset cruise around the shores of Zanzibar.

This shot was taken from the Destin Harbor – Destin, FL. The sunset cruises were coming in for the evening. This is one of the sunset cruises that I caught coming back into the harbor. During post processing in Photoshop I added a larger than life moon via the Lunar Cell filter. It seemed like it added a mysterious beckoning element to the photo. Enjoy. / / Click on the buy/preview button to see the many RedBubble print options for this photo.

Pulu Beras or “Prison Island”, Cocos Islands. Sure floats my boat….(for Gez!) Prison Island got it’s name from it’s small size and it’s inaccessibility during high tide unless on a boat. Last century, the tiny island was owned by Alexander Hare. He lived here in the only house on the island with something like 12 women and a heap of children…..what a life!

This lovely waterscape was photographed from the shore of Perch Hole, a part of the Lake Innes National Park, just south of Port Macquaire, NSW, Australia, late on an autumn afternoon. I shot this using my Fujifilm Finepix S9600 9Mp camera, hand held. I had set out to shoot just the waterscape until I heard the boat coming from my left so I pre-focussed and waited until the boat was between the two trees. Enjoy! As I post this photo, the QE2, the most famous ship in the world, will be departing my home city and her home port for the last time, to become a floating hotel in Dubai. This is purely a documentary shot, captured before 9am this morning as the Queen waits for her big day. The day started off badly when strong winds caused the ship to run aground on a sandbank at the entrance to Southampton Water, but no damage was done and a fleet of little tugs pulled her into deeper water so she could sail home for the last time. Southampton is home to the greatest ocean liners in the world, but this old lady who is over 40 years old and has sailed 5.9 million miles will be sorely missed. Note the red poppy in the midground – the QE2 became a troop ship in the Falklands War (I was even there to see her leave) and Armistice Day is a perfect choice for her farewell.
