This is a quote made by the Joker in the latest Batman film, The Dark Knight. I believe the entire sequence goes like this: Joker: How about a magic trick? / [He twists a pencil into the table] Joker: I’m going to make this pencil disappear. [Gambol’s henchman tries to attack him; He then slams the man’s head into it the pencil. The man falls over dead.] Joker: Taa-daa!

This was a beautiful place to be – when the children were there is became magical – every door opened wasn’t a garden it was the secret garden and we had to look for lepricorns and fairies and smell every flower and describe every tree.

90×160 cm canvas. The Fool is looking for a new path, a new aspiration and inspiration for his life. Sitting uncertain at a cross-roads, he notices a blind wise woman listening to two brothers argue over an inheritance. They have come to her for judgement. One brother has the whole inheritance, the other has nothing. “I ask that all of it be given to me,” the poor brother demands, “Not only because I have a better right to it, but because I will not be wasteful with it, as he is!” But the rich brother protests, “It is rightfully mine and that’s all that should matter, not what I do with it!” The woman listens, then awards half of the rich brother’s inheritance to the poor brother. The Fool thinks this only fair, but neither brother is happy. The rich one hates losing half his wealth, and the poor one feels he ought to have gotten all. “You were fair,” he remarks to the woman after they have left. “Yes, I was,” she answers plainly. “With only half the inheritance, the rich one will stop being so wasteful. And the poor one will have as much as he needs. Even though they cannot see it, this decision was good for both.” The Fool thinks on this, and new insight on his own life comes to mind. He realizes that he has spent his life achieving worldly ambitions, physical goods, while leaving his spiritual self to starve, primarily because he didn’t want to make the sacrifices necessary to feed his spiritual self. Now, he sees that this is necessary, the only path he has not walked, one he must walk to regain his equilibrium. Thanking the woman, he heads out with new purpose. It is time to balance his own inner scales,This artwork is also about Karma . While testing out the new (at the time) Aquarel pigment sticks, I needed a large project on paper, so I got the biggest sheet of paper I’ve ever seen and launched into a drawing that would end up taking me 6 months on and off. / The sleep of reason begets monsters. I consider this my masterpiece at this point because it took the longest time, I used a new medium, and it’s the largest work on paper I’ve ever attempted.

Out of ashes, new beginnings, / Out of fire comes new power, / Out of darkness, new day dawning, / Phoenix help me in this trying hour. / DJ Conway Beginning with Apophysis to make the flames and adding a photo of a tree stump that resembled a ‘phoenix’ to me, adding the words and voila…my interpretation of a phoenix rising from the ashes… / My name, Tammy, means palm tree and in Greek the word for phoenix is the same as for palm tree. Legend says that when the phoenix reached a thousand years old, it flew to a special place and built a funeral nest of sweet smalling woods and resins in a tall palm tree, when the nest was set ablaze by the force of the Sun, the phoenix stayed in the nest and was destroyed. After nine days, a new phoenix rose from the ashes. Phoenix Rising by Annihilator
