An IR shot. Title inspired by Frank Zappa again. / ......................................................................................................... / Out in Cucamonga / Many years ago / Near a Holy Roller Church / There was once a place / Where me and a couple of friends / Began practicing for the time / We might go / On TV / And as fate would have it / Later on we got a chance to play. / All we ever really knew: / That it was crazy / / / / / / Why not check out “Fenced Off” while you’re here… / /

I’ve been experimenting and would like to know your thoughts on this. This started out as a ‘yellow toned’ infrared imaged. I put it through a CS2 Plug-in called “Topaz Adjust” – it does a sort of HDR thing. Then I created about 5 layer masks to get the different colours and painted them in. What do you think??

Bind me not to the pasture, chain me not to the plow. / Set me free to find my calling and I’ll return to you somehow. / If you find it me you’re missing, if you’re hoping I’ll return. / To your thoughts I’ll soon be listening, and on the road I’ll stop and turn. / Then the wind will set me racing as my journey nears its end. / And the path I’ll be retracing when I’m homeward bound again. / ~ Kaelyn Archer / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-- / / -—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-- I travel between north and south Queensland a few times per year – a distance of 1500km. Along the Marlborough stretch between Rockhampton and Mackay, I pass quite a few cattle stations…this is one of them

I have often been asked why do I like horses so much. Look into one’s eyes. / There you will see generations of horses who have served the humans for thousands / of years faithfully for nothing in return. / Beaten horses, starved hoses, horses who no longer possess a spirit. / They deserve to be loved and respected as much as humanly possible. / Let them run free again. Let them no longer be faithful beasts, / but embrace them as you would a dear friend, for that is what they are. “You took me to adventure and to love. We two have shared great joy and great sorrow. And now I stand at the gate of the paddock watching you run in an ecstasy of freedom, knowing you will return to stand quietly, loyally, beside me. Sorry just thinking aloud…....I can’t seem to come to terms with losing him wj

© Simone Byrne Photography, 2008. All Rights Reserved. 3rd October, 2008 Turpins Falls, a slice of paradise in the middle of nowhere. When you first arrive here you have to wonder what you are going to find as there are just sheep paddocks as far as the eye can see, but once you walk down to the falls this massive crater opens up in one of the paddocks, it is such an amazing surprise. This location is a well known haunt for rock climbers in Summer. The track leading down to the base of the falls has been fenced off, but it is relatively safe to venture down. Metcalfe, Victoria, Australia Camera: Canon EOS 350D Lens: Canon 18-55mm @ focal length 18mm Exposure: 2 sec, f16, ISO 100 Filters: Hoya UV, Cokin 121S Grad ND8 HDR: AEB (-1, 0, +1) Tone Mapping: Photomatix Pro Processing: Adobe Photoshop CS This image has had the Orton Effect applied. The Orton Effect is named after photographer, Michael Orton. He basically would shoot two images of the one scene on slide film, the first sharp and over exposed by two stops and the second out of focus and over exposed by one stop. He would then sandwich the two images together in a slide mount to give an impressionistic view of the scene. This link explains how to re-create the effect digitally with photoshop. © Simone Byrne Photography, 2008. All Rights Reserved. 8th November, 2008 A late afternoon storm surrounding the ‘Tree Graveyard’. It had just passed through prior to my arrival, lots of threatening cloud but little rain and I was thinking that I might be in for a spectacular sunset, but alas within an hour the clouds had almost totally gone, almost typical weather for a drought. Listen to this song here Harmlessly passing your time in the grassland away; / Only dimly aware of a certain unease in the air. / You better watch out, / There may be dogs about / Ive looked over jordan, and I have seen / Things are not what they seem. What do you get for pretending the dangers not real. / Meek and obedient you follow the leader / Down well trodden corridors into the valley of steel. / What a surprise! / A look of terminal shock in your eyes. / Now things are really what they seem. / No, this is no bad dream. The lord is my shepherd, I shall not want / He makes me down to lie / Through pastures green he leadeth me the silent waters by. / With bright knives he releaseth my soul. / He maketh me to hang on hooks in high places. / He converteth me to lamb cutlets, / For lo, he hath great power, and great hunger. / When cometh the day we lowly ones, / Through quiet reflection, and great dedication / Master the art of karate, / Lo, we shall rise up, / And then well make the buggers eyes water. Bleating and babbling we fell on his neck with a scream. / Wave upon wave of demented avengers / March cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. Have you heard the news? / The dogs are dead! / You better stay home / And do as youre told. / Get out of the road if you want to grow old. Pink Floyd
