Acrylic and pastel on illustration paper. (1995) This is truly the first tree I ever painted, the need to paint and create was something brewing so strongly inside I had to do something about it. Yet my resources were very limited, I grabbed the only paint I had any access to, a can of my father’s black spray paint, I sprayed it into the lid of the can and used the only paintbrush I owned a cheep nylon brush from a water color kit and created. I then finished my work with the only two pastels I owned brown and black. / Necessity is the mother of invention, or maybe it’s that there is more than one way to skin a cat. (Sorry cat lovers) At any rate I grew up in a home with very few luxuries but I did have a passion to create, always, I had to feed the creativity. So this is a very special piece to me and I hope to you as well. First Tree is officially published in Artists of West First Tree was Featured in Lifestyles Magazine as part of an article about the Artists of the West coffee table book. I am also honored to announce my painting First Tree was a part of the Rialto Towers two week art exhibit in Melbourne, Australia in of July 2007 Most Popular Purchases For This Image / Canvas Prints / Greeting Cards For commissioned work you can contact Carrie at: carrie@carrieglennstudios.com and please visit Carrie Glenn Studios*

Sales of this Design? – 2 sales so far :) Jack and Jill by Karin Taylor / you are viewing the original creation created from a roll of brown kraft paper / i will subsequently load another couple of versions to RED Bubble soon… and they will also be available as prints, cards and a specially crafted one for tshirts will be here soon too Jack and Jill – The Creative Process a) tear large ‘rips’ of brown kraft paper from the roll / in a frenzy..helps also rid one of general frustrations of life / b) grab a huge paint brush / c) discover lid of gesso is sealed shut, requires a hammer to / remove lid / d) bash gesso lid repeatedly on desk / e) discover gesso has been flung all over the studio floor due to small holes / caused from bashing the gesso / f) clean studio floor prior to doing anything else, as gesso dries fast / g) relax …. dip paintbrush in gesso and slather it all over the brown paper / strips in long horizontal strokes… most therapeutic time of / process…mindless brushwork / h) let the paper dry….and start thinking…hmmm what will i draw? / i) come up with a brilliant idea…. / j) try to draw brilliant idea many times, resulting in lots of screwed up brown / paper and wasted gesso / k) finally come up with brilliant design, oh yes.!! “Jack n Jill” Brilliant idea…but / they’ve all but grown up whilst ‘in situ’ . Jack now sporting a divinely / devilish goatee and Jill always the dreamer, now sporting a resemblance / to the flower children of the sixties, a favourite era of mine…..This also / works rather well becoz aswe all know, after Jack fell down and broke his / crown, he fixed it up with vinegar and brown paper…since Jack is drawn on / brown paper, he won’t have to go too far for a plaster / l) trace over the briliant design with a black texta / m) colour in the brilliant design with whatever’s handy and stick stuff on when / drawing fails completely and you don’t know what else to do..also…when / all else seems to fail resort to those old gum rubbers with star and flower / stampings i made an aeon ago…yep…stamp, stamp, stamp.. works well! / n) to make the bucket…i had stuffed it up completely….so with nothing to lose / i poured ink on paper towel, then cut towel into bucket shape and / stamped it… / o) i used pastels and coloured faber castell pencils plus a heap of charcoal / and some acrylic paint in the mix…. a messy and fun process / p) play with it in photoshop!! a lot!!! / / Mounted Print / Jack and Jill at Twilight Prints and Cards

Sales of this Design? – 3 sales so far :) / Baby Bull Production is something I created not that long ago. It’s a mixed media piece on canvas textured paper…...i did it in response to the chilled out cows at Mullumbimby, northern New South Wales, who seem to be very laid back, i suspect they are indulging in the ‘other’ kind of grass also….... they have this real chilled look about them, and I’ve never seen cows anywhere else that have this way about them. I put it in the Casino Art Exhibition and it was the only painting that sold, every year a male school teacher goes to that show, or so the legend goes…....and purchases a piece…...it was my lucky year. Tonight I was asked if I’d ever sold a painting in a gallery…well, yes, and at exhibitions and privately. To date I believe I have sold between 30 and 40 original paintings, which I am very proud of…..in the early days 2002 I was very prolific, things have slowed down a bit with my painting now, because i am much more deliberate and take a lot of time to imbue my paintings with layers and love and depth…..it is just how i have grown as an artist, it is nice to report that there is growth along the journey…(and sales lol)!!! Somebody also has a print of these cows and loves them very much from what I understand lol

My work was featured in the group Video Montage / ( Thanks Muscular Teeth and Butchart ) Airbrushed and mixed media on canvas Excerpt from “Abigail’s Friends” written by Anthony Hedger illustrated by Carrie Glenn. ...“I think we better go back now.” She whispered to the butterfly. / “Why?” The butterfly asked. “It’s only my friends and they are having a special tea party just for you, come on and I’ll introduce you to them.” / “Er, ok, if you think I’ll be alright?” / “Of course you’ll be alright.” The red fox called to her. “Come on your tea is getting cold.” / So for the next two hours Abigail sat with Mr. Fox, Mr. Bear, Miss Rabbit, Ms. Blue bird and a hundred different butterflies and had tea and cake and chatted as though she had known them all her life. She gave each of them a big, big hug after and thanked them for making this the best birthday ever. / “Er, just before I do go home, how did you know it was my birthday anyway?” / “You could say a little bird told us.” The bear said gently and they all began to laugh…read more You can contact Carrie at: carrie@carrieglennstudios.com and please visit Carrie Glenn Studios* /

After some weeks of devoloping this piece in my mind it finally just started to come together. As usual I went at the theme with something different in mind. What are we to say about how the divine eye sees our world or we may see the divine world in comparison to our own. This thought inspired a more surreal feel to the finished product. Mixed Medium on canvas… approx A3 in size. Hi everyone, I did this, this afternoon, it took me an hour, exploring with mixed medium. Inspired by Billylee and her print making… so incorporated some printing, water colour, collage and inks… Probably something I should varnish… but if it’s framed behind glass not sure if I’ll risk it. Have no idea what it should be titled so maybe you can help me … I have been part of RB since mid October and never had a work on the featured pages… could this be it? Looking forward to your comments and feedback, I know it’s not my usual style, but / hopefully someone out there likes it!

O city, city To live between terms, to live where death has his loud picture in the subway ride, Being amid six million souls, their breath An empty song suppressed on every side, Where the sliding auto’s catastrophe Is a gust past the curb, where numb and high The office building rises to its tyranny, Is our anguished diminution until we die. Whence, if ever, shall come the actuality Of a voice speaking the mind’s knowing, The sunlight bright on the green windowshade, And the self articulate, affectionate, and flowing, Ease, warmth, light, the utter showing, When in the white bed all things are made. Delmore Schwartz Acrylic and mixed media on Canvas / 92cm x 61cm / Sept 2008

This is my entry for the Photoshop Creative competition / Digital Mixed Media. Mostly done in Photoshop CS2. A touch of Corel Painter and Apophysis 2.0. This image is composed of digital painting, a few fractals, and several photographs added for texture. I hope you all like it because I’ve been working on it for most of this week :). / This is the first I’ve completed in a new series: The Elijah Series. This image represents the chariot of fire. You can read about it here: 2 Kings 2:7-12. There is so much going on in this image so I’ll help you out: The Chariot driven by some sort of Angelic being is in the center of the image while the horses of fire are at the bottom, very front of the image. The blazing light of Heaven is in the very back. Basically, the sky has opened up and the Chariot of Fire is coming down from Heaven to separate Elisha and Elijah. The whirlwind that takes Elijah up into Heaven will be the next image I do in this series. Thank you for looking!

/ Part of the Series of Oriental Brush Paintings... Ink and Watercolour on Rice Paper. The northern mountain is blanked in cloud; / for one who hides away, it’s pleasing — perfect. So that we could visit each other, I’ve tried to climb high; / my heart follows along, like a wild goose, to exhaustion. I worry because of the thin dusk that comes up, / but the clear autumn prevails and you can feel it. It’s the hour to see village people returning; / they walk on the sand, rest at the ferry landing. How welcome if you met me with some wine! / We’d share, intoxicated together through the autumn festival. mixed media (watercolor, acrylic and dry pastels) on wallpaper, hand painted 45×120cm this painting is an old one: done in 1998. I started to use wallpaper back then, and continued to use it till now. My sizes have been so large, and i’ve been so productive, that i couldn’t afford to use streched linen canvases. I remember days, that i used to paint a whole 25 meters roll (the width of 1 meter) in very expressive style – not in a whole day – but in 2 hours – without any break!
