Bacchus (Roman Myth names), the god of wine, was the son of Jupiter and Semele. Dionysus (Greek Myth names), the god of wine, was the son of Zeus and Semele. He represents not only the intoxicating power of wine, but its social and beneficent influences likewise, so that he is viewed as the promoter of civilization, and a lawgiver and lover of peace. / T_SHIRT / ALSO AVAILABLE / AKINOLAUDE /

Here it is at last! Dreams 3 continues on from Dreams 2 with a dark and moody nightscape, this time over a higgeldy piggeldy city I photomontaged together. Lots and lots of textures and exquisite detail to keep your peeps entertained for hours. The flying ship is smaller now and riding the wave of a decorative swirl. I also revealed more of the blue-green skyline to decrease the darkness a little. Hope you like!

Australian navy warship HMAS Warramunga, docked today (29/3/08) at Cunningham Pier, Geelong. / I love seeing anything that may be in the ‘mega structure’ category, so when I learned this was coming to town I had to go check her out.

Dangerous Days was the original name of the screenplay and film, Blade Runner. An interpretation of the city view, especially with the opening sequence in mind. A Replicant looks on, knowing her time is short. Blade Runner is one of my favourite movies of all time, and the book is another favourite, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? On a similar theme: Dangerous Days: and Nexus 6

The Flat Earth Society / “The facts are simple,” says Charles K. Johnson, president of the International Flat Earth Research Society. “The earth is flat.” He believes that the main purpose of the space program is to prop up a dying myth—the myth that the earth is a globe. “Nobody knows anything about the true shape of the world,” he contends. The sun and moon, in the Johnson version, are only about 32 miles in diameter. They circle above the earth in the vicinity of the equator, and their apparent rising and setting are tricks of perspective, like railroad tracks that appear to meet in the distance. The moon shines by its own light and is not eclipsed by the earth. Rather, lunar eclipses are caused by an unseen dark body occasionally passing in front of the moon. Johnson’s beliefs are firmly grounded in the Bible.

Dangerous Days was the original name of the screenplay and film, Blade Runner. An interpretation of the city view, depicting the onset of decay and police omnipresence—juxtaposed with the increase in decadence as the city inhabitants seek solace in pleasure. Blade Runner is one of my favourite movies of all time, and the book is another favourite, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? On a similar theme: Dangerous Days II Dangerous Days: and Nexus 6

The view looking back down the Hunter River from Nobby’s Beach to the inner city of Newcastle, New South Wales. This scenery later inspired my poem called On A Warm Night In Spring

I have a little fascination going on that is keeping me occupied. The channel delineators in the bay at Port Melbourne. They’re very hard to detect in the day time, but, at night there is an extravagant yet subtle light show that goes on. I managed to catch the lights for a second or two….:D

Kaskelot tall ship in Charlestown Harbour Cornwall England. See also / Sea Fever I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky, / And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by; / And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song and the white sail’s shaking, / And a grey mist on the sea’s face and a grey dawn breaking. I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide / Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied; / And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying, / And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying. I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life, / To the gull’s way and the whale’s way where the wind’s like a whetted knife; / And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover, / And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick’s over. John Masefield
