A plan for my culminating project in art. This is just a sketch scanned into photoshop and edited so that it might look like the real thing. The real thing will be, like, 6 feet by 3 feet on butcher paper, and with gouache and gesso and stuff… I’m working on it now, and it’s so so fun :) Nothing beats traditional hand done stuff, really.

This “King of Glorious Sutras,” contains everything needed, from daily happiness to complete Enlightenment. It contains a heart-rending practice of confession and rejoicing, profound teachings on dependent arising, reliable assurances of protection, guidelines for ideal government, and awe-inspiring stories of the Buddha’s previous lives, in which the Buddha shows how, even before he had completely eliminated the delusions, he liberated countless beings from the ocean of suffering through compassion and personal courage. The Sutra of Golden Light moves us to do what has to be done and clearly describes the result. http://www.fpmt.org/golden_light_sutra/ ... Take advantage of every opportunity to practice your communication skills so that when important occasions arise, you will have the gift, the style, the sharpness, the clarity, and the emotions to affect other people. / Jim Rohn

Plans for world domination ... anyone interested?
by Natalie TylerI’ve posted on page four of this thread i…
I’ve posted on page four of this thread in the forums with some crazy plans for world domination (aka redbubble promo ideas ). What I want to know is if anyone can get to London easily to make some of these ideas happen in the near or distant future … If the timing was right and the idea was killer, would you be in? Ideas include: Commuter’s Gallery In my part of the world, hundreds of thousands of poor worker drones commute into London each day. It’s a long and boring journey. Some read the paper, some listen to their iPod, others just stare out the window. In fact, a lot of people just stare out the window. Along these long stretches of overland rail there are many easily accessible fence lines and walls that would be the perfect spots for a commuters gallery. Artworks could be placed there in the early hours of the morning, just in time to be viewed by morning commuters. The final mounted work could feature the website address. / / Public Washing Line This idea involves turning a public place like the Millennium Bridge near the Tate Modern Gallery into a giant washing line featuring RedBubble t-shirts. Tees on Trees Find a location like Spitalfields Market in London, St Kilda Esplanade in Melbourne early on a Sunday (before the market starts), get there early and hang random RedBubble t-shirts from trees. I can imagine an over sized price tag shaped bit of card attached with all your info. You could also include a small ‘promo pack’ including stickers, postcards etc. If you pick your area well and don’t place them all in the one spot so someone takes them all, it could work nicely. Obviously you photograph it, blog about it, maybe do it three or four times over a month and create a bit of a buzz. You could target a more artistic crowd and do this near galleries when there’s a relevant exhibition on, say one of the big design or fashion exhibitions at the V&A? Guerilla Gallery Events could take place in areas such as Melbourne’s city lanes or London’s Shoreditch area. Events could be big or small and could feature large or small artworks. A group of people could get together to organise this. Individual artworks would be clearly branded on the back, perhaps with a letter to the new owner explaining that the work is free, that more can be found at the RB website and some artist information. RedBubble Art Crawl Think of this idea as pub-crawl meets exhibition. We could do this on a big or small scale. I’m picturing say, five locations within walking distance of each other. Some nice arty little bars or pubs. Each bar holds it’s own mini exhibition with a number of RedBubble works. Each could have it’s own subject or cover a specific genre of art. If we wanted to go large scale, creative activities or workshops could be organised at each location.

Coincidence of Omen?
by JenniferBYesterday I spent half the morning listening to a Shrin…
Yesterday I spent half the morning listening to a Shrink telling me how I needed to ‘get out and about more’, and the other half waiting for permission to be ‘allowed’ to go out for a short walk – so I got pissed off and absconded. Coincidentally, while I was walking around the local shopping mall I came across a Central American Native Indian group of men playing music with mandolins, pipes and flutes, (Thanks Clinton for the geography lesson, I had no idea Ecuador was in Central America). Kind of like this Music It was coincidental because lately I’ve been feeling a strong pull towards the Native American culture and a yearning to live on a Reservation. / I’ve just felt like selling up all of the materialistic trappings and other millstones which weigh me down and running away to live a non-materialistic life on a Reservation some place. So it was kinda weird to stumble across the men in the photograph above, particularly as I’d left the Unit without consent and was more than likely going to pay dearly for doing so when I got back, (which in a way I have as they’re cutting back the hours I’m allowed home on leave and are scheduling me into numerous, boring, Occupational Therapy Group sessions, ugh). The music was hauntingly beautiful, all of it imitating sounds of nature like the wind, water and birds. The man on the far right of the photograph gave me a free music CD. I arrived back at the hospital only to be told how a warrant would’ve been issued for my arrest, had I arrived back later than dinner time. A helicopter was circling the perimeter of the building and I couldn’t help thinking of Krisso and our escape plan. :-) Truth is, I wont be saying a whole lot on here until the meds are sorted and things are feeling semi-okay again, I don’t have time to create any new Art and I don’t feel inspired enough to pen a poem. And Life in the unit is becoming overbearingly stifling, so I wont be talking about that much either. I think I’ll just read and appreciate what everyone else has to say for a while, until I find my Muse again. Ciao 4 Now / Jennifer B / a soon to be / escapee!!! xox
