  • The day you went away
    by Louise Cooke

    US$4.66–US$106.40

Ever felt the heavy heart of saying goodbye to someone? Train Stations, airports, bus stops…they can be places of great sadness. When I found this little station, I found myself thinking of the work of two photographers: Don an awesome photographer who loves trains! Check out his breath-taking landscapes and other great work, including this train . He’s given me so much help over the past few years – a generous soul with a great eye for photography. Paul Louis Villani also leapt into my head. He has some incredible images of trains and train stations. While I wouldn’t even attempt to immitate his style, his work gives me so much inspiration, and got me thinking about how I would like to present this scene. My fav image of his is Still standing

  • Baker Street
    by Trevor Patterson IPA

    US$4.66–US$106.40

This is how it would look framed: I’d like you to indulge me a little whilst you look at this image of Baker Street Station as it will help you to see it though my eyes. To help you do this I found a video of Gerry Rafferty playing his 70’s hit ‘Baker Street’ / I can never seem to walk through this station without the sound of that amazing sax running through my head, and since I spent 20 years of my life traveling through this station, every day, on my way to work, the words of the song seem so very relevant for me; this is an image of my home. / Baker Street is also the home of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s world famous detective Sherlock Holmes. You will find tourists wandering about this part of London looking for the place he was supposed to live… almost as if he were haunting it. I think perhaps that when I’m gone we will probably both end up wandering these platforms, me and a man that never existed – how fitting. / Video Link Here

  • Blue Baths
    by Naomi Frost

    US$4.66–US$106.40

The rain finally eased up toady…..probably because it was back to work after easter..lol / Anyway, I managed to get out after dinner. Went to Merewether Baths and because today was ‘cleaning day’ the pool was empty so I could actually get into it without getting too wet the water was just up to my knees I got a few pics before it was too dark. I am going to post 2 shots of the pump house, both have a very different feel about them and since one of the objects of this site is to actually sell art something I have not been successful with as of late… I wanted to put up both as they will probably appeal to different people…I hope!

  • Merewether Baths
    by Naomi Frost

    US$4.66–US$106.40

I often get questions about the pump house and the diving blocks at Merewether Beach so I found out a bit of info….. 1935 / At a cost of 2,600 pounds, Merewether Ocean Baths, acclaimed as the ‘largest of their kind in the State’ opened as part of the Merewether Golden Jubilee celebrations in November. There was a procession in fancy dress from the Council chambers to the baths. Considered ‘the greatest advertisement for Merewether as a residential suburb’, the new baths had been built further seaward and a little to the south of the older Merewether baths on the same rock platform. At 110 yards by 90 yards, they were ‘big enough to hold the larger swimming events’ and separated into a main pool and a children’s pool by a wide promenade. The main pool nearest the sea was 110 yards long and 55 yards wide, while the shore portion was 110 yards long and 35 yards wide. The 3,500 pounds for relief work on the baths had been paid by the NSW government. Excavation of the baths promised to yield 6,000 to 7,000 cubic yards of stone valued at 2,500 pounds. Merewether Council was seeking a further government loan to cover the construction of dressing-sheds at the baths. The new baths became central to the life of the community and prompted more people from the Lower Hunter district to visit Merewether. Camera: FujiFilm FinePix S7000 / Location: Merewether, NSW, 2291, Australia / (Latitude South 32d 57m 07s, Longitude East 151d 45m 23s) / Date: 24-02-2008 @ 7:46PM ISO200 / f/8 / Focal Length: 8mm / Exposure: 2.5sec / Filter: Circ polarizing & ND4 / Tripod
