  • Like a Circle in a Spiral... by JanG

The ever~photographed Vatican museum stairway… I love it because it is mesmerizing as it goes on and on and on, like winding your way down through history. “Like a circle in a spiral / Like a wheel within a wheel / Never ending or beginning, / On an ever spinning wheel / As the images unwind / Like the circle that you find / In the windmills of your mind…” / / Windmills of Your Mind by Bergman and Legrand, / recorded by Dusty Springfield (and numerous others) (featured in Italy and All Things Italian)

  • Steps In Time - The Rocks - The HDR Series by Philip Johnson

BETTER VIEWED LARGER The Rocks is the site of Australia’s first European settlement in 1788. / Since that time, The Rocks has undergone many transformations, from a convict town to a burgeoning port city by the mid 1800s. The 1900s were a period of change and immense upheaval. / These grand old buildings in Sydneys “Rocks ” district thankfully survive along with other buildings once threatened by demolision the area of the Rocks was saved by residents and unions from being demolished. Now the home of restaurants, hotels pubs and history, a walk through the rocks is like walking back in time. I large amount of buildings have seen better days but thankfully are protected and eventually will be retored to their old grandeur. If you visit The Rocks Area of Sydney allocate some time and look at the old fittings and designs of days gone by. And don’t forget * LOOK UP* you never know what is there from old windows, doors , staircases. So take your time wander the streets stop off at some of the old pubs that dot the historic precinct, and think of times gone by.

  • Palacio de Gobierno by Kuntal Daftary

In the beautiful city of Merida, in the Yucatan state of Mexico, the Governmental Palace was built as the royal household at the end of the XIX century. Its interior adorns a harmonious patio and its walls are covered with three master pieces of Fernando Castro Pacheco: the Mayan Cosmology, the Simbology of the Four Cardinal Points and the Man’s Creation. In the History parlor more works of this yucateco painter are exposed, showing passages of this state’s history, as the native rebellion headed by the Indian Canek and the Castes’ War.

  • Rear View by Ray4cam

This photograph was taken decades ago in Akron, Ohio. It shows the back of the buildings that face Main Street. I found that the more I looked at the photograph, the more I saw designs and shapes: squares, rectangles, parallel lines, triangles etc. I still find it intriguing. /
