Nelson Falls, Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park, Tasmania by John Barratt
This was taken in the heart of the Tasmanian wilderness between Queenstown and Derwent Bridge. There had been a decent amount of rain just prior, and in fact it was still coming down at the time of this shot. This meant that the falls were in a heightened flow and gave a lovely consistent & broad white curtain. / ~ / Browse Images by Category : Snow Landscape Nature

Camel Island, Lake Pedder, Tasmania by David Bluhdorn
The submerged rocks give a good indication of the colour of the water: it’s dark brown, like tea – and tastes great! This image was taken on one of the rare, still days in late spring. Tasmania’s south-west is renowned for its unpredictable weather and Lake Pedder can blow-up in a matter of minutes if the westerlies from the Southern Ocean come in hard.

Bluebell Inn by Gwenda Oxley
Sorell Tasmania. Established in 1829 as a Coaching Inn, now a fully restored B&B. Sorell is a town in Tasmania, Australia, north-east of Hobart. It is on the Tasman Highway which continues up the east coast of Tasmania. Historically, it was a better known as a major town on the route from Hobart to Port Arthur on the Tasman Peninsula. In 1872 the Sorell Causeway was opened, from the Cambridge direction, across Pitt Water and Orielton Lagoon to Sorell, stopping at Midway Point in the middle. This shortened the route considerably from the original road via Richmond. Today, Sorell is the junction point of the highway that takes the same route, the Arthur Highway.

Portside Links by imagebytes
I recently stayed at this wonderful B&B on King Island, Tasmania. The owners are incredibly hospitable and generous and made my stay very special. Many techniques applied to this image – levels, curves, black & white, palette knife filter and probably a few others. Each technique edited with selective masking. Any critique very welcome. Poppies are flowering all over Tasmania. A pity I am not near any of the opium fields, but these red poppies came up well on black.
