  • 26.11 - A day in the shadows of terror by Prasad

Hotel Taj, Hotel Trident and Nariman house – more or less familiar names across the world, until terror hit Mumbai on 26.11 They don’t care language, nation or what your identity is. Unfortunately, it has spread over the world in recent times but it’s origin has never been thought to be destroyed totally, yet. Sooner or later the world will have to think of it. It claimed 151 lives till 1830 Hrs. on 28.11.2008 in Mumbai and Hotel Trident was CLEARED, fighting for Hotel Taj and Nariman House, the Jewish residential was still on. It’s not just Mumbai or India today, it might hit any civilized world tomorrow. I am presenting a photograph taken today to pay a tribute to all who lost their life with a message, although the PEACE is the most valuable asset to all of human beings, until the roots of terror are not destroyed WAR AGAINST TERROR will never end. We are on the same board named planet Earth and we cannot live with terror for a long time. Please join hands against the fight to make a safe and peaceful world, for our coming generations. One day we’ll have to answer them. All the proceedings from the sale will go to the victims of 26.11 Equiment : Canon EOS 400D

  • Dawn of Creation by Janis Zroback

/ Artist’s conception of The Dawn of the Universe... Mixed Media on Paper In the beginning was the three-pointed star, / One smile of light across the empty face, / One bough of bone across the rooting air, / The substance forked that marrowed the first sun, / And, burning ciphers on the round of space, / Heaven and hell mixed as they spun. In the beginning was the pale signature, / Three-syllabled and starry as the smile, / And after came the imprints on the water, / Stamp of the minted face upon the moon; / The blood that touched the crosstree and the grail / Touched the first cloud and left a sign. In the beginning was the mounting fire / That set alight the weathers from a spark, / A three-eyed, red-eyed spark, blunt as a flower, / Life rose and spouted from the rolling seas, / Burst in the roots, pumped from the earth and rock / The secret oils that drive the grass. In the beginning was the word, the word / That from the solid bases of the light / Abstracted all the letters of the void; / And from the cloudy bases of the breath / The word flowed up, translating to the heart / First characters of birth and death. In the beginning was the secret brain. / The brain was celled and soldered in the thought / Before the pitch was forking to a sun; / Before the veins were shaking in their sieve, / Blood shot and scattered to the winds of light / The ribbed original of love. Dylan Thomas

  • Poppy fields.. by valzart

..painted for the soldiers that gave their lives for us on the poppy fields ……Owlspook wrote this beautiful poem ….. .................. A golden field with flowers of red / commemorate the lives of the dead / who shed their blood in wars long gone / how could they know they were but pawns / in games that were played by greedy old men / who real purpose was beyond their ken / and these old men took the best of us / without a care, without any fuss / they sent them off into the battle / to be slaughtered like barnyard cattle / they did not care twas not their mind / twas money and power that made them blind / and now again it’s off to war / far away from our home land shore / to bear the brunt of old men games / to feed the fire and the flames / how blind we be to shut our eyes / and play the games of old men lies / afraid to speak afraid to say / this is not right we will not play / but the noose it tightens every day / afraid to say / afraid to say / this is not right we will not play / but the noose it tightens every day …. ! • Winter Storm by Janis Zroback

/ From the Series Landscape… “Winter Storm”..... Watercolour on Arches Paper… Announced by all the trumpets of the sky, / Arrives the snow, and, driving o’er the fields, / Seems nowhere to alight: the whited air / Hides hills and woods, the river, and the heaven, / And veils the farmhouse at the garden’s end. / The sled and traveler stopped, the courier’s feet / Delayed, all friends shut out, the housemates sit / Around the radiant fireplace, enclosed / In a tumultuous privacy of storm. Ralph Waldo Emerson

About This Group

Two word challenge is open to everyone, no matter what form your art takes; photography, painting/drawing, writing and digital art are all welcome. Every Monday an announcement will be placed in the group forum containing two unrelated words. Group members are free to interpret these word and create a piece of art which reflects and sums up these two words (this is not as easy as it sounds!) Each challenge is open to submissions for six week after the announcement and each artist may submit up to three works for each challenge. Here I would encourage people to experiment and step outside their comfort zone, for example, painters could submit one painting and one piece of writing (or stick to paintings if you so choose.) Please include the name of the group and the two words in your tags, please don’t title your work with the two words or we will all have art with the same name.

Group members are encouraged to email me with their two word suggestions. Depending on the amount of suggestions I cannot guarantee that all will be used, each member please do not send more than one suggesstion per week. All suggestions will be kept for future challenges and the name of the group member plus a link to their profile will be included in the announcement. If no suggestions are made then I will announce two words I have chosen, so please get in touch.

My hope for this group is that it will challenge all of us to produce work that we would not otherwise have thought of, and experiment with work we may not have tried before.

Changes to group submissions: Due to people submitting art which has nothing to do with the challenges all work submitted now requires my approval before being accepted. Please remember to tag your work with the two words used.
